Shah Rukh Khan look for King draws comparions with Brad Pitt’s F1 look, Directors Siddharth Anand hits back to the backlash. Read what he said inside.
The 60th birthday of Shah Rukh Khan turned out to be a double celebration for his fans and admirers, as not only did the people celebrate his legacy and milestone, but Shah Rukh also surprised his fans by unveiling the teaser of his much-anticipated film, King.
With his salt-and-pepper hair, rugged look, and effortless charm, Shah Rukh once again left the fans spellbound. But soon, a debate of comparison started and the internet drew similarities between Shah Rukh Khan’s King look and Brad Pitt’s F1 avatar, both donning a tan jacket, a denim shirt, and an intense demeanour.
As soon as the teaser dropped, users flooded timelines with side-by-side clips of both stars, some calling it an “inspiration,” while others went as far as labelling it a “copy.” Soon, this debate caused a stir, as different accounts started posting collages highlighting Shah Rukh’s blue shirt and tan jacket look from King, Brad Pitt’s similar outfit from F1, and even a throwback from SRK’s own Jab Harry Met Sejal days.
Siddharth Anand hits back at trolls
Amidst this copying debate, King director Siddharth Anand finally responded to the allegations. He took to his Twitter and said, “Funny logic by haters these days. If a Bollywood movie has a fighter jet, it’s a copy of Top Gun. Ship—copy of Titanic; same dress code—copy of F1; orange dress—anti-Hindu . Their IQ level is like—buffering since 1947.”
Siddharth Anand reacted to the post in the comment section, dropping several laughing face emojis along with the “okay” hand emoji, seemingly agreeing with the sentiment behind it.
All about King
Directed by Siddharth Anand and co-written by Sujoy Ghosh, it is going to be Shah Rukh Khan’s most anticipated project. Described as an intense action thriller, Shah Rukh Khan will be playing a grittier and darker role.
Speaking about his character, Shah Rukh said, “King ka jo character hai, bohot hi interesting hai. Siddharth aur Sujoy (Ghosh) ne bohot prem se likha hai. Aur usme bohot saari buraaiyaan hain. Khooni hai, logo ko maar deta hai aur poochta bhi nahi (The character in King is very interesting. Siddharth and Sujoy wrote it with a lot of love. He comes with a lot of vices. He is a murderer. He kills people and doesn’t even ask).”
The film also stars Deepika Padukone, Suhana Khan, Jackie Shroff, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, and Arshad Warsi, among others. Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures, King is slated for release in 2026.
