Malavika Mohanan is riding high on the success of Hridayapoorvam, a Malayalam romantic comedy-drama that has become a milestone in her flourishing career. Adding to it, sharing the screen with the legendary Mohanlal in this movie, was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Malavika Mohanan on Hridayapoorvam: “Working with Mohanlal Sir was surreal’ and overwhelming”
In a recent interview, she admitted that the impact of working with him never faded throughout the shoot. “Though I have worked in popular films with big actors before, the difference is that I am a girl who has grown up in a different place. I grew up consuming Hindi films because I was in Mumbai. I watched Malayalam films because of my parents [who are Malayalis]. I did not grow up watching Telugu or Tamil films. So, even though [in these languages] you know how big these actors might be, it is not like Mohanlal, whose films you have watched growing up. That Mohanlal was in front of me, making me feel surreal!” she shared.
She further revealed that her awe never truly subsided. “Though I thought that the feeling would be gone in a couple of days, I confess it never left me.”
The actress described the entire Hridayapoorvam experience as “overwhelming,” highlighting how it stands apart from her already illustrious filmography. Over the years, Malavika has worked with some of the biggest names in Indian cinema, including Mammootty (The Great Father), Rajinikanth, Vijay Sethupathi (Vetta), Vijay (Master), Dhanush (Maaran), and Vikram (Thangalaan).
Coming to Hridayapoorvam, directed by Sathyan Anthikad and produced by Antony Perumbavoor for Aashirvad Cinemas, the 2025 release has struck a chord with audiences and critics alike. Written by Sonu T. P. from a story by Akhil Sathyan, the film features an ensemble cast led by Mohanlal, Malavika Mohanan, Sangita Madhavan Nair, and Sangeeth Prathap, alongside stalwarts like Siddique, Lalu Alex, Janardhanan, Sabitha Anand, Baburaj, and Nishan.
Looking ahead, Malavika’s career trajectory continues to soar. She is gearing up for The Raja Saab, where she stars opposite Prabhas, followed by the highly anticipated Sardar 2 alongside Karthi. With such an impressive line-up across industries, Malavika definitely is looking forward to create more of a pan-India appeal with her choice of films.
