The suspense over Drishyam 3’s release order is finally over, Jeetu Joseph has confirmed that the Malayalam version with Mohanlal will hit theatres before Ajay Devgn’s Hindi version.
The Drishyam franchise has always been a phenomenon, captivating audiences across languages. With Mohanlal’s Malayalam original and Ajay Devgn’s Hindi remake both achieving blockbuster success, fans have long speculated which version of Drishyam 3 would release first.
Now, director Jeetu Joseph has cleared the air. In a recent interaction with Q Studio, the filmmaker revealed that the Malayalam version, starring Mohanlal, will premiere before the Hindi adaptation.
What did Jeetu Joseph say?
Jeetu Joseph didn’t mince words when asked about the release order. “First, Malayalam will come. If Bollywood tries to do something on its own, then we will have to go the legal way. But I am confident that such a situation will not arise,” the director stated.
According to Joseph, the Hindi team, led by Ajay Devgn, is waiting for his final script. Only once it is complete and officially shared will the Bollywood version begin filming. This ensures that the suspense, thrill, and storytelling will remain intact across both languages.
About Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 3
Ajay Devgn’s Hindi Drishyam 3 will not go on floors until Joseph hands over the locked screenplay. The director has assured that both versions are being carefully crafted to retain equal intensity and intrigue, no matter the language.
This means fans of Devgn will have to wait a little longer, as Mohanlal’s version gets priority. But Joseph is confident that audiences in both regions will enjoy the gripping climax of the trilogy.
When can fans expect the release?
Earlier reports suggested that shooting for Drishyam 3 would begin in October 2025 for both Malayalam and Hindi versions. If all goes according to plan, the film is expected to hit cinemas on October 2, 2026—a date that coincides with the Gandhi Jayanti holiday, making it a strong box office bet.
Meanwhile, Jeetu Joseph’s latest thriller Miraj, starring Asif Ali and Aparna Balamurali, was released on September 19 and is already generating buzz among Malayalam audiences.
