Actor Arjun Kapoor recently got candid about his personal struggles and mental health journey at the FICCI Frames event. The Singham Again actor, known for his honesty and resilience, reflected on how grief, weight battles, and therapy shaped him both personally and professionally.

Arjun Kapoor recalls losing 50kgs in four years before his debut: “It was as much a mental battle as a physical one”
According to a report by Free Press Journal, Arjun revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic gave him a moment of self-realisation. “COVID gave me a moment of realisation. I started therapy because I realized I hadn’t taken care of myself for ten years. You think a sorted person doesn’t need help. But even the strongest ones are sometimes messed up in their heads,” he shared.
Arjun also opened up about coping with the devastating loss of his mother, Mona Shourie Kapoor, who passed away just 45 days before the release of his debut film Ishaqzaade in 2012. “My mother passed away in March 2012, and my film released 45 days later. I was mourning and celebrating at the same time. I became a star overnight, but I was only running away from my pain,” the actor recalled.
Speaking about his long struggle with obesity, Arjun revealed, “Losing 50 kilos took me four years. It was as much a mental battle as a physical one. I was lucky to have my mother’s support, but many people don’t have that emotional or financial backing. When you lose your backbone at 25, what can the world do to you? I’ve faced enough to know I can take on anything.”
At the event, Arjun urged young people to prioritize their mental health and not shy away from seeking help. “There’s nothing wrong with being vulnerable. The strongest people are those who can acknowledge their emotions. When you talk openly, you realize how smart and sensible you are. You just need an outlet — and therapy gives you that,” he said.
On the professional front, Arjun Kapoor was last seen in Mere Husband Ki Biwi, directed by Mudassar Aziz, alongside Rakul Preet Singh, Bhumi Pednekar, and Harsh Gujral. The actor will next be seen in No Entry 2, though the film is currently on hold following the exit of Diljit Dosanjh and Varun Dhawan.
