India Couture Week 2024
New Delhi, July 2024: ASAL and MARD by Abu Sandeep made a grand debut in New Delhi at the Hyundai FDCI India Couture Week, in association with Reliance Brands Limited. This spectacular showcase featured celebrities Taha Shah Badussha and Wamiqa Gabbi as captivating muses for the young labels.

Known for their unique approach, Abu Sandeep once again delivered an extraordinary show. Set against a massive Haveli-inspired backdrop, designed by Abhinav Bhagat Events, the event combined traditional aesthetics with modern flair. The music, dubbed ‘Disco Mujra,’ added a contemporary twist, with stand-up comedian Sumukhi Suresh introducing the show with her signature humor. An original soundtrack by musician duo Akshay and IP, featuring songs like “Ghana Chowdhary,” “Sharam Da Chola,” “Haari Re,” “Cake,” and “Snow,” provided the perfect accompaniment. G.K. Chudiwala’s intricate fine jewelry beautifully complemented the garments.

Wamiqa Gabbi opened the show, dazzling the audience in an Ivory Trail Lehenga from the ‘Botanical Bloom’ line, adorned with Resham embroidery, ivory silk threads, pearls, and crystals. She closed the show as a regal bride, donning a Red Lehenga from the ‘Bridal Gota’ collection, intricately handcrafted with Gota, Zardozi, and encrusted with crystals.
Taha Shah Badussha captivated hearts
In an olive silk tissue long kurta, adorned with crystal-encrusted flying birds, paired with relaxed yet regal brocade flared pants. In another look, he epitomized opulence in brocade pants with a dramatic textile drape, adorned in Zardozi embroidery, complete with a matching Zardozi belt.

The collection seamlessly merged a new perspective with the timeless beauty of traditional textiles, embroideries, and garments. The Haveli-inspired backdrop paid homage to Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla’s rich archives, celebrating impeccable craftsmanship and heritage.

Abu Sandeep:
“We aim to celebrate the spirit of love between modern couples—a bride who carries her cultural heritage with ease and pride, and a regal groom who exudes contemporary sophistication. By harmonizing the old with the new, we create the ideal wardrobe for their big day.”

The Collection:
‘ASAL,’ the bridal womenswear label, unveiled a majestic new range titled ‘Asal Bride,’ blending heritage with modern elegance to honor today’s bride. The collection caters to everyone wanting to dress up for the grand Indian wedding.

For ‘The Regal Groom of MARD,’ the collection reflects the modern man’s desire to dress his best, sharing the spotlight with the bride. The entire family becomes part of the celebration, adding to the fun.

Embroideries dominate the collection, with Resham threads creating intricate patterns in vibrant colors, while mirrors add glamour. Classics are reinvented with front-open jackets and sherwanis featuring dramatic borders. Intricate prints and finishes elevate the linings of each garment, showcasing the exceptional craftsmanship of Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla’s couture atelier. Each piece celebrates festive glamour with deep cultural insight.

In summary, the ASAL and MARD collections by Abu Sandeep are a beautiful blend of tradition and modernity, offering exquisite garments for the grand celebration of love.
