Ram Charan inaugurates India’s first Archery Premier League during grand Dussehra celebration in New Delhi: “We have to support every sportsman and archer”
The actor, who was the chief guest for the opening ceremony, also performed the traditional Raavan Dahan, symbolizing victory and focus—qualities central to the sport of archery. His presence was met with loud cheers from fans, as he officially declared the league open. Speaking at the launch, Ram Charan said, “For the first time in India and the world, we have a premier league for archers. We have to support every sportsman and archer. We should appreciate the focus, the discipline, and the strength the sport has. It is the responsibility of all of us to take this league forward with all the support.”
The opening ceremony combined elements of culture, entertainment, and sport. Highlights included cultural performances, the unveiling of the league anthem, team walkouts, and the much-anticipated Raavan Dahan, led by Ram Charan.
The Archery Premier League has been conceptualized as India’s first franchise-based archery competition, hosted by the Archery Association of India under the leadership of Chairman Anil Kamineni. The initiative has been supported by World Archery, World Archery Asia, and the Sports Ministry of India, making it a collaborative effort to elevate the sport nationally and globally.
His vision for APL aims to offer a platform for India’s top athletes to compete alongside international players. The league features six franchise teams, comprising 36 of India’s best archers and 12 international stars, competing in a mixed-format tournament under lights at the Yamuna Sports Complex, New Delhi, from October 2 to 12, 2025. Beyond competition, APL seeks to revive and celebrate the cultural legacy of archery in India, while introducing it to new audiences through a modern, entertainment-driven format.
Meanwhile, coming to the professional front of Ram Charan, he is gearing up for the release of Peddi, co-starring Janhvi Kapoor. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the film is slated to release on March 27, 2026.
