Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1 continues its box office domination, becoming the first film of 2025 to cross Rs 100 crore in overseas earnings.
Rishab Shetty’s film Kantara: Chapter 1 knows no bounds. The mythological action drama, which happens to be the prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara, has turned heads. Kantara: Chapter 1 became the first film to earn Rs 100 crore overseas in 2025. Coming to the domestic collection, as per industry tracker Sacnilk, the film minted Rs 10 crore on day 14.

Since Kantara: Chapter 1 minted Rs 100 crore overseas, it left behind movies like Rajinikanth’s Coolie, Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda’s Saiyaara, Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s L2: Empuraan, and Kalyani Priyadarshan and Dulquer Salmaan’s Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra.
While the movie opened with a decent number of Rs 61 crore, the total Kantara: Chapter 1 Week 1 collection stood at Rs 438.65 crore.
Coming to the second week, the movie earned Rs 13.35 crore. Following the next day, Kantara: Chapter 1 held its momentum, earning Rs 14.15 crore. One will be surprised to know that Rishab Shetty’s folklore drama earned the maximum in the Hindi language — Rs 6.5 crore among the other four.
For the unversed, Kantara: Chapter 1 was released in five languages including Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Malayalam.
Speaking of its box office performance, Kantara: Chapter 1 has collected Rs 475 crore net in India and Rs 660 crore worldwide. The film continues to perform strongly in theatres and is expected to maintain its run until the release of Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Thamma on October 21.
