SS Rajamouli, director of successful films like Baahubali and RRR, is returning with the film “Varanasi.” Priyanka Chopra is making her comeback in Indian cinema with this film opposite Mahesh Babu. Mahesh Babu’s first look from the film, as well as the film’s final title, was revealed at a recent event for Globetrotter.
However, amid such a major event, SS Rajamouli made a statement about “Mahabali Hanuman” that sparked widespread controversy on social media. He not only faced public outrage, but an FIR was also filed against the director.
Who filed the FIR against Rajamouli?
Director S.S. Rajamouli stated in front of a crowd of 50,000 at an event in Varanasi that he had no faith in God. However, his statement deeply offended those who believe in God on social media and was considered disrespectful. According to a News18 report, the Rashtriya Vanara Sena has filed an FIR against Rajamouli.
Rashtriya Vanar Sena has also shared a post on its official Instagram, which reads, “Film director SS Rajamouli, who publicly made derogatory comments on Hanuman ji, has hurt the sentiments of Hindu people. No one should dare to insult Hindu goddesses and our Gods in the future; hence, we demand legal action. It is our duty to protect the religion.”
What exactly happened with SS Rajamouli?
During this grand event held at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, there was a technical glitch due to which SS Rajamouli got a little frustrated and he said, “I don’t have much faith in God. It was an emotional moment for me. My father came and said that Lord Hanuman will take care of everything. After the glitch, I said to him loudly, “This is how he is taking care of me.”
SS Rajamouli continued, “My wife is also a great devotee of Hanumanji, and she treats him like a friend, talking to him. I also got angry at him and said, ‘Does he do such things?’” His statement quickly went viral on the internet, sparking controversy.
