SS Rajamouli has created a huge uproar across the nation, and globally. But for the wrong reasons. The event last week introducing the cast and characters of Rajamouli’s Varanasi to the audience, and releasing the teaser, took an unexpected turn when Rajamouli confessed he was an atheist. He then made some uncalled-for remarks on Lord Hanuman, which did not land well with fans of Rajamouli and Hanuman.

The uncalled-for remarks have put Rajamouli’s father the writer Koduri Viswa Vijayendra Prasad in an embarrassing situation.
Said a source close to Vijayendra Prasad, “He is a loyalist of the Bharatiya Janta Party and a Rajya Sabha MP. Rajamouli’s comments on Hinduism and Hanuman are now being debated heatedly. His father has quietly withdrawn from the public eye. When asked about the controversy involving his son, Vijayendra Prasad said what children say or do does not reflect on their parents, and vice versa.”
Rajamouli’s renegade remarks have impacted the teaser trailer of Varanasi, which is not getting the kind of attention and appreciation it was expected to.
Interestingly, Vijayendra Prasad who has scripted Baahubali and Bajrangi Bhaijaan, has offered Ajay Devgn a film set during the turbulent times that followed the demolition of the Babri Masjid on December 6, 1992. The film entitled Kabir scripted and to be directed by Vijayendra Prasad, would possibly give Devgn a chance to play the most controversial role of his career.
