Mumbai, March 12, 2023. At tonight’s Lakme Fashion Week X FDCI Grand Finale at the Jio World Convention Centre, Manish Malhotra marked one year of Diffuse. The second Diffuse release, along with Lakme’s audacious campaign to be #UnapologeticallyME, featured an inspiring fashion show called “Retags” that was influenced by video games. With a gaming-inspired collection, Manish Malhotra redefined social identities in a fun and novel way.
In addition to a high-octane color scheme of striking blacks, electrifying purples, startling neons, and unusual structures, the showcase featured patterns inspired by famous video games in androgynous styles having a ball. The collection’s detailing proudly and brazenly integrated the retagged labels. The accessories and styling showcase a boatload of alluring metallics, latex, oversized jackets, trench coats, a new version of the MM monogram sweatshirts, hand-printed and embellished co-ord sets, lehengas, label placements, pleatings, popular high-slit gowns, and knee high boots, all this and more making a special appearance. The line pays homage to the innovative, young, and experimental spirit of digital residents while incorporating it into classic, all-season-wearing shapes and pieces, giving each piece a distinctively quirky, avant-garde feel.
The tall mirror in the center, the rubix cube arrangements, and the checkered board backgrounds all added visual appeal to go with the fashion designs being displayed. The audience’s total experience was enhanced by the interactive and dynamic elements provided by the LED visual graphic displays. For the younger, more technologically savvy audience who are acquainted with the language and culture of social media and online communities, the exhibition of “re-tags” and their revived meanings from the urban lexicon is an intriguing addition. With an army of models to walk the talk in time with every musical beat and video presentation, the design components overall produced a visually stimulating and engaging environment that complemented the Diffuse collection being displayed. This experience was distinctive and unforgettable for the attendees.
The stars of the fashion-forward performance, Ananya Panday and the charismatic Aditya Roy Kapur were clad in flawlessly hand-embroidered and eclectically hand-printed iterations of Diffuse. Aditya Roy Kapur looked dapper in a Black X O X O jacket matched with a co-ord set, while Ananya Panday wore a hand-embroidered, tassel-edged gown with a scoop neck and high hemline.
Pieces for every emotion and situation are condensed in Diffuse. Whether it’s a relaxed appearance or a fashion statement.
The retagging sorcery is a metaphor for the longing for achievement that is pure gold. The major takeaway from this is how the designer combines disparaged into tic tac toe shapes that indicate X and range from 0 to 100 to extraordinary. An edgy message for everyone visiting Manish Malhotra’s catwalk world, where over 102 models parade to the sounds of Lush Lata and the silky rhythm of drummer JonQui, can be found in his whimsical depiction of Diffuse that is tempered with just enough kindness to make it amusing but never cruel.

To be more unashamedly you, Diffuse actually “diffuse-s down” the difficult-to-digest jargon and invests in our distinctive bling, bold, and stunning. Ananya Pandya and Aditya Roy Kapoor, our show-stopping combination, join the Diffuse Tribe this year since they perfectly exemplify the generational principles of the future.
