The sixth episode of Two Much With Kajol And Twinkle featured Manish Malhotra and Sonakshi Sinha and the unusual combo made for a great watch. Not much is known about Manish Malhotra and his viewpoints and this episode gave the audience a chance to dig deep into it.
Two Much With Kajol And Twinkle: Manish Malhotra reveals why Sanjay Leela Bhansali NEVER worked with him after Khamoshi: “He thought I belonged to Karan Johar, Aditya Chopra’s camp!”
Manish Malhotra is known for his visually stunning costumes. Meanwhile, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known for grandeur in his films. But the two have barely worked together. The episode dealt with this million-dollar mystery.
Kajol asked Manish Malhotra, “You seemed to have worked with everyone except for Sanjay Leela Bhansali. And considering your outfits are as opulent as your films, why haven’t you?”
Manish reminded, “I did only one film with him, Khamoshi (1996). After that, we have never worked together.” He added, “I think once somebody asked him that. I think he always thought that I was very friendly with Karan (Karan Johar) and Adi (Aditya Chopra) and I belong to that group!”
Kajol and Twinkle Khanna said in unison, “You belonged to a different camp!” Manish Malhotra continued, “I was like, ‘But Sanjay, I am a professional and I can work with so many different actors.” He further said, “Sometimes, some things just don’t happen and then you just make your own path.”
Sonakshi Sinha, meanwhile, added, “Growing up, I never wanted to be an actor…so, when I became an actor, the gold standard was that ‘Jab tak Manish Malhotra ke kapde nahi pehene, tab tak tu successful heroine nahi banegi’ (until you don’t wear Manish Malhotra’s clothes, you won’t be successful). So, he styled me for Rowdy Rathore (2012), which is a film I did with Akshay Kumar.”
She credited Akshay and her Son Of Sardaar (2012) co-star Ajay Devgb for her on-set discipline, “I learned how to be on time from Akshay. Ajay is so quick with everything that he’s doing, like there’s no nonsense in the middle of the set, everything is like quick, quick, quick.”
