On the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday, production house Silver Cast Creations officially announced a new biopic titled Maa Vande. The film will trace the life journey of Narendra Modi—from his childhood years to his rise as the nation’s leader—with a special focus on his relationship with his late mother, Heeraben Modi. Stepping into this powerful role is Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan, known for films like Marco, Bro Daddy, and Bhramam.

The announcement created significant buzz, especially among Mukundan’s large fan base. Born in Thrissur, Kerala, on September 22, 1987, Unni was raised in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, where he completed his schooling at Pragati Higher Secondary School. He later pursued a degree in Literature and Journalism at Prajyoti Niketan College in Thrissur. With over 2.9 million followers on Instagram, Mukundan has become one of the most recognizable faces in Malayalam cinema.
He made his film debut in 2011 with the Tamil movie Seedan, starring opposite Dhanush. That same year, he also debuted in Malayalam cinema with Bombay March 12 alongside superstar Mammootty. His performance earned him several awards in the debutant category and marked the beginning of a successful career.
The turning point in Mukundan’s journey came in 2012 with the film Mallu Singh, directed by Vyshakh. The movie ran for over 100 days in theatres and solidified his position in the industry. He followed it up with notable roles in films like Ezham Suryan and I Love Me. In 2016, he made his mark in Telugu cinema with Janatha Garage, where he played the antagonist Raghava, the son of Mohanlal’s character. The film became one of the highest-grossing Telugu films of that year and earned him critical acclaim.
In 2017, Mukundan added singing and lyric writing to his resume with the film Achayans. He continued to rise in popularity with performances in Bhaagamathie (2018) opposite Anushka Shetty, and Malikappuram (2022), which elevated his status as a leading Malayalam actor. His career continued on a successful path with commercially viable projects such as Ira and Chanakyatanthram.
Unni Mukundan also ventured into production by launching his own banner, Unni Mukundan Films (UMF), on August 17, 2020. Under this label, he produced films like Meppadiyan (2022), Shefeekkinte Santhosham (2022), Jai Ganesh (2024), and Marco (2024). Marco turned out to be a massive success and became his first film to cross the ₹100 crore mark at the box office.
Maa Vande, his next big project, will be directed by Kranthi Kumar CH. The film brings together an acclaimed technical crew. Cinematographer KK Senthil Kumar, known for his exceptional work on SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali and Eega, will lead the visuals. The music will be composed by Ravi Basrur, while editing will be handled by National Award-winning editor Sreekar Prasad. The film’s production design will be helmed by Sabu Cyril, and action choreography will be led by King Solomon. The announcement of Maa Vande has sparked excitement across social media and film circles. With a compelling subject, a talented team, and Unni Mukundan in a career-defining role, the biopic promises to be a major cinematic event.
